The Tiger Team is a diverse group of experts assembled to tackle a specific project, need, or event. Their purpose is to investigate, solve, build, or recommend solutions for unique challenges. At The Home Depot, the concept of creating specialized teams was groundbreaking. As the UX Director, I led the initiative to establish our first-ever phase of Design Thinking principles, a problem-solving framework grounded in empathy and a deep understanding of the customer.

I emphasized the importance of understanding consumer needs throughout the customer journey, from awareness to decision-making within the sales funnel. By fostering collaboration among team members and guiding our approach with a user-centric focus, we were able to uncover valuable insights that shaped our design process.

Below are some of our most recent works, showcasing various components and modules designed for customer-facing category pages. This initiative not only enhanced our products but also set a precedent for future collaboration and innovation within the organization.

Design Thinking Phases

The five stages of Design Thinking, are a non-linear process which were proposed by the Hasso-Plattner at the Institute of Design at Stanford. Empathise, Define (the problem), Ideate, Prototype, and Test / Iterate!

While we were Defining our components, we knew we had to achieve a few goals. Mostly to clearly communicate the purpose of each component; While also establishing a clear relationship between modules providing examples of how they are to be used with-in the product.
